A: The FDA (in the USA) regulates herbal/plant/supplementary offerings as “Dietary Supplements” – intended for consumption that, among other requirements, contains “dietary ingredient(s)” to supplement the diet. Per the DHSEA of 1994. So
● A dietary supplement manufacturer, produces dietary products intended to supplement the diet, with vitamins, minerals, herbs, or other botanicals. The manufacturer must ensure product safety, claim accuracy, and compliance with the FDA’s Good Manufacturing Practices. They must notify the FDA of any claim about the product affecting body structure or function within 30 days of marketing. Unlike drugs, dietary supplements are not pre-approved by the FDA but can face action if found unsafe or misleading post-market.
● But individual herbalists, wellness coaches, TCM, Ayurveda, etc such as Native-Wellness services, provide 1-1 consultations often with a customized plant/supplement preparation with recommended ingredients. We are left in a rather murky area by the FDA. A custom preparation from us is not a product, and is not offered for general sale to the public. We do not “manufacturer” anything. Your custom preparation may either be included with your 1-1 consultation or billed separately.
● In the absence of licensing, the First Amendment protects our freedom of speech to provide information to clients related to their health. This is restricted by the necessity to avoid practicing medicine without a license.
● All users of Native-Wellness services, online or at one of our locations, have agreed to be bound by USA law only – waiving all others – regardless of your location or nationality, as per our Terms & Conditions.

A: Ayurveda or “knowledge of life,” is an ancient holistic healing system from India dating back over 5000 years. It focuses on mind, body, and spirit balance for wellness. This system views the universe and human body as comprised of five elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth, forming three life forces or doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Individuals are believe to have a unique dosha balance, with imbalances leading to illness. Ayurveda uses dietary modifications, lifestyle practices, yoga, meditation, and herbal remedies to promote optimal health.
Native-Wellness.com services focus on research-based Ayurveda (Plant Medicine), but can include diet, meditation, yoga (breath & movement exercises) disciplines and lifestyle suggestions- tailored to the individual’s needs. It’s recommended to consult a trained practitioner for a safe, effective plan.

A: When prescribed by a qualified practitioner, Indian and other herbs (Plant Medicine) can be a safe and effective component of wellness. a) However, it’s essential to share any current medications or medical issues with your practitioner to avoid potential interactions. b) Some Indian herbal products have been contaminated with toxic compounds, heavy metals, pesticides, and microorganisms and may have serious side effects. Manufacturing errors, in which one herb is mistakenly replaced with another, also have resulted in serious complications. We are very picky about our sources!

A: Traditional Ayurveda is not the medical system of first choice for many people in India. “(Even) Ayurveda practitioners don’t seem to trust it fully,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted in a speech. The Ayurveda establishment has failed to keep pace with scientific advances. Theories and practices are often kept “mystified”, avoiding experimental verification. Thus, a major reason for the trust-deficit in Ayurveda is its diminished evidence-based quality.
Native-Wellness Ayurveda, like all its practices, are ALL based on the 10,000s of research studies we access, track, follow and apply. We consider ourselves the most scientifically advanced Ayurveda and Wellness practice in America.

A: The key difference lies in the approach. While conventional medicine often targets specific symptoms or issues, traditional naturopathy views the body as an interconnected system, focusing on improving overall health and addressing the root cause of an issue rather than just the symptoms. (There are also “Naturopathic Doctors” in some US states and Canadian provinces but again, many states refuse to recognize them).
A: Absolutely. Naturopaths use natural, non-invasive techniques that aim to work with your body, not against it. However, like any health service, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified practitioner to ensure any therapies used are appropriate for your individual needs.
